Summary:
Develop process flows for manufacturing precision machined parts.
Create NC programs for multi-axis turning centers, 3-5 axis CNC machining centers, waterjet tables, and supporting equipment.
Select and request cutting tools to optimize machining operations.
Design and fabricate workholding fixtures for complex parts.
Prepare raw materials using band saws, waterjets, and other equipment.
Set up and operate mills, lathes, and supporting equipment for part fabrication.
Inspect parts using precision metrology tools and document results for quality review.
Adjust tooling, programs, speeds, and feeds to optimize production.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues.
Maintain equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
Suggest and implement process improvements for efficiency and quality.
Continuously develop technical knowledge through training, publications, and cross-training.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required; formal apprentice/journeyman training preferred.
5+ years of machining experience, preferably in aerospace.
Experience with manual and CNC multi-axis lathes, 3-5 axis mills (Hurco).
Experience with FDM 3D printers and related software.
Proficient in fixture/tool design for low-volume or prototype parts.
Able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions.
Strong problem-solving and independent work skills in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Maintain a safe, organized workspace and follow proper PPE procedures.
CAD/CAM experience (Gibbscam preferred).
Familiarity with model-based machining, CATIA, 3D printers, Insight software, GrabCAD Print, and OMAX waterjet systems is a plus.
Knowledge of FAA certification processes and AS9100 standards preferred.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
