Tooling Engineer
Location: Palmdale, CA 93550
Job Type: Full-Time; Consultant (9 Months)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | First Shift | 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM (9x80 schedule)
Pay Rate: $59.54 per hour
PDS Tech Commercial, Inc. is seeking a talented Tooling Engineer to support our partner, a leader in the aerospace industry. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing, integrating, and managing tooling solutions that ensure precision, efficiency, and safety in the production process. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success of complex aerospace programs while working in a highly collaborative, innovative environment.
As a Tooling Engineer, you will:
Coordinate with suppliers on tool builds and provide oversight from design through delivery.
Track project budgets, costs, and schedules to ensure efficiency and alignment with program goals.
Apply knowledge of tooling design, integration, and 3D modeling to support production requirements.
Utilize Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) to monitor performance and financial health of projects.
Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve technical and logistical challenges.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a high standard of quality across all tooling projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
3–4 years of experience in tooling engineering (design, integration, or related).
Strong background in Cost Account Management and project management.
Experience with 3D modeling and tooling processes.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineering degree with relevant experience in tooling and CAM (EVMS, budgets, etc.).
Prior aerospace tooling experience.
