PDS Tech Commercial, Inc. is partnering with a global aerospace leader to hire a Software Engineer in Manhattan Beach, CA. In this role, you’ll take the lead on developing and delivering mission-critical software that powers navigation payload systems for the Space Development Agency portfolio. What You’ll Do

As a Software Engineer, you’ll serve as a software lead, driving both execution and innovation. Key responsibilities include:

• Directing a team of engineers and coordinating across divisions to achieve program goals.

• Leading program execution to meet software delivery schedules.

• Applying software development best practices (configuration management, unit testing, code quality).

• Driving process improvements and documenting technical baselines and architectures.

• Decomposing requirements and reporting status and metrics to leadership.

• Designing, developing, testing, and debugging applications and embedded systems software in C/C++.

• Working in real-time operating environments (VxWorks, Workbench) to implement complex data analysis, routing, and control algorithms.

• Collaborating with systems and hardware engineers in multidisciplinary teams.

• Ensuring compliance with software standards, while designing and executing functional and performance tests.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field with 12+ years of software development experience; OR Master’s with 10+ years; OR Ph.D. with 8+ years.

• Prior management experience directing teams of software engineers.

• Proven success in process improvement, configuration management, and code quality practices.

• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming.

• Experience with VxWorks and Wind River Workbench.

• Demonstrated cross-collaboration with systems and hardware engineering teams.

• Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance. 

• This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Agile methodologies and the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, BitBucket, etc.).

• Familiarity with Pointing, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technical baselines.

• Experience across the full software life cycle: architecture, requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
