Test Engineer
Advance Space Technology as a Test Engineer | Middleburg Heights, Ohio
Compensation: $48–$53 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Hybrid – In-office Monday, Wednesday, Thursday; remote Tuesday and Friday. Flexible start times: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
PDS Tech Commercial, in partnership with a leading innovator in the Aviation Industry, is seeking a Test Engineer II for a 6-month hybrid assignment. This role provides the opportunity to work on cutting-edge space flight hardware and contribute directly to high-profile aerospace programs.
Position Overview
The Test Engineer II will develop and execute test and verification processes for space flight hardware, ensuring it meets rigorous performance standards. This role is essential in advancing hardware across space-based programs, maintaining quality, and driving innovation at every stage of development.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Development
Develop comprehensive test plans and protocols for hardware, from prototypes to highly ruggedized space flight systems, including EMI/EMC, power quality, environmental, vibration, and communications testing.
Design and implement specialized equipment and methods to perform quality checks on assemblies, minimizing risk during final testing.
Assist in creating project schedules, estimating task durations, establishing milestones, and ensuring deadlines are met.
Testing and Execution
Conduct tests to verify hardware meets specifications, using tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, simulators, and electronic load banks.
Perform qualification and acceptance testing on critical flight hardware, including batteries, capacitors, and containment vessels.
Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Reporting and Collaboration
Prepare detailed test reports to close verification requirements.
Provide technical input for proposals, including solutions, cost, and schedule estimates.
Communicate regular status updates to engineering management and program/project managers.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Systems Verification, Flight Operations, and Safety teams throughout hardware development, manufacturing, inspection, and testing processes.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
4–6 years of relevant experience in testing or engineering roles.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency with testing tools, measurement equipment, and computer systems.
Preferred:
Experience testing space flight hardware.
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
