Pay: $64.02–$96.53 per hour, based on experience

PDS Tech Commercial is hiring a highly skilled System Safety Engineer to join our team, partnering with a global leader in the aviation industry. In this role, you will apply your expertise in system and software safety to ensure the reliability and integrity of next-generation aircraft systems. Your work will directly impact the safety and performance of cutting-edge aviation programs.
Apply software and system safety standards across the full development lifecycle (e.g., DO-178C, MIL-STD-882, AMCOM385-17, Joint Software Safety Engineering Handbook)
Conduct civil and defense safety analyses using SAE ARP-4761, ARP-4754, and MIL-STD-882 processes
Perform advanced safety assessments, including:
Functional Hazard Assessments (AFHA/SFHA)
Preliminary/System Safety Assessments (PASA, PSSA, ASA, SSA)
Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA), Common Mode Analysis (CMA)
Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), O&SHA, HHA, SHA/SSHA
FMECA and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR)
Support model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and model-based safety analysis (MBSA)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex, integrated system issues
Communicate safety assessments effectively to leadership and customers
Expertise with software and system safety standards across the full development lifecycle
Direct experience with SAE ARP-4761 and MIL-STD-882 analyses
Familiarity with civil and defense safety processes (ARP-4754, MIL-STD-882)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex, integrated systems
Technical understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems; operational knowledge highly desirable
Excellent communication skills to build relationships and brief leadership and customers
Experience or training in MBSE/MBSA preferred
2+ years of experience on aircraft or system development/sustainment programs using structured safety processes
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (engineering, science, technology, or math)
Related degrees with relevant experience (e.g., military rotorcraft/powered-lift aviator or mechanic qualification) will be considered
Advanced degrees considered as additional experience
Eligibility to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
