Aircraft Mechanic - Structural
Full-Time | Consultant (9 Months) | San Antonio, TX | $43.05/hr (Base $37.96 + $5.09 H&W) | 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
PDS Tech Commercial, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic to join a leading aerospace program in San Antonio, TX. This role is ideal for mechanics with extensive experience in structural modifications, heavy maintenance, and precision repair—supporting mission-critical aircraft systems that keep fleets operational and reliable.
Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, installation, and removal on critical aircraft structures.
Locate blind holes and install structural components to existing assemblies.
Execute sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation of structures following standard repair processes.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, and specifications for structural modification and repair.
Use advanced tools, assemblies, and fixtures for depot-level modifications.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components; assist with electrical and avionics teams as needed.
Access aircraft systems through computer interfaces and manage discrepancy and parts requests.
Work safely using proper certifications, lockout/tagout systems, and hazard awareness practices.
Ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 35 pounds as required.
Required Skills:
4+ years’ experience working with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).
4+ years’ experience interpreting schematics, drawings, and technical specifications.
4+ years’ experience using structural hand tools (e.g., rivet guns, drills, countersink cages, hole finders).
4+ years’ experience performing heavy structural work such as drilling, fastening, and installing aircraft components (doublers, stringers, seat tracks, webs).
Flexibility to support variable shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience in depot-level or heavy aircraft maintenance (C-17 or equivalent).
Experience with titanium structures.
Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, or electric-powered elevating equipment.
