PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a highly skilled PLC Controls Engineer to support a leading client’s nationwide commissioning efforts for high-speed sortation and conveyor systems. This role is ideal for engineers with deep expertise in Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI development, and industrial automation—ready to travel and lead onsite system integrations across the U.S.
Your Role and Impact
As a PLC Controls Engineer, you’ll lead the commissioning and support of automated material handling systems across multiple U.S. client sites. You’ll be responsible for programming, testing, and troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs, ensuring system readiness and safety compliance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Do
Commission PLC and HMI software for high-speed sortation and conveyor systems.
Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000.
Perform I/O validation, QA/QC testing, and readiness checks.
Support BUAT/UAT/FAT testing and post-installation support.
Maintain technical documentation and ensure safety compliance.
Train customers and collaborate with engineering and operations teams.
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
4+ years of controls engineering experience in material handling systems.
Proficiency in Studio 5000 and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
Experience with conveyors, sorters, and high-speed sortation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in post and parcel operations.
Experience with Wonderware Aveva Edge, FactoryTalk View, Beckhoff, and Ignition.
Familiarity with VFDs, scanner integration (SICK, Cognex), and machine vision.
Knowledge of industrial protocols: Ethernet/IP, Profibus.
Soft Skills:
Strong project planning and budgeting capabilities.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to fast-paced environments.

Pay Rate: $45– $50/hr (based on experience)
Hours: 8 AM–5 PM; 40–60 hours/week onsite.
Travel & Work Expectations
Travel Scope: ~90% nationwide travel to ~20 U.S. locations.
Site Duration: 2–6 weeks per site; typical schedule is 10 days onsite, 4 days offsite.
Office Location: Mason, OH (when not traveling - flexibility maybe considered).
