Chipton-Ross is seeking an ELECTRICIAN 1ST for an opportunity in Pascagoula, MS.
Additional hourly PD is 18.38 for those that live over 75 miles with valid utility bill. This new rate will require a minimum of 2 hours worked daily and is capped at 8 hours maximum per day. There is NO differentiation for Premium or No Premium.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): Requires a minimum of four (4) years of electrical experience in the commercial, industrial, or marine electrical field.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: An Ingalls First-Class Electrician also called an Electrical Journeyman, is responsible for the layout, installation and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, and electronic equipment, as well as the ships power. Electricians utilize an assortment of hand and power tools, a variety of test equipment along with a working knowledge of blue prints, drawings and schematics. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts. As with most every position in the shipyard, an Electrician may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.
**A skill assessment will be a written and hands on test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): One (1) year shipboard experience (sonar, radar, power, internal communication, navigation, etc.). The ability to read marine blue prints and work from standard and metric specifications, wiring hook up, fiber optics experience.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Accredited High School diploma or equivalent.
WORK HOURS: 5/40, workweek. 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift.
