PDS Tech Commercial is hiring a talented and driven Design Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge automotive programs—both pinnacle and commercial—in a high-impact role based in Santa Clarita, CA. From 3D modeling to component design, your work will shape the future of vehicle technology and innovation.

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you’ll be immersed in a wide range of design activities that support the full development cycle of automotive components and systems, including test cell and electrification projects.

Your responsibilities include:

• Design and modeling of automotive components (3D & 2D) using CAD software (CATIA V6 preferred)

• Support design and drawing activities for both prototype and production parts

• Participate in concept design, preliminary research, and information gathering

• Execute component and assembly modeling, evaluation, and analysis

• Prepare and release detailed engineering drawings

• Coordinate with manufacturing and quality teams

• Track progress through scheduling and reporting tools

• Communicate effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams

• Apply mechanical and cost calculation processes and material standards

You will work with minimal supervision and must be proactive, organized, and adaptable.

What We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

• 2–3 years of experience in the automotive industry

• Strong background in 2D/3D software modeling (preferably CATIA V6)

• Experience in preliminary design, concept development, and detail design

• Familiarity with raw material codes and industry standard codes

• Strong understanding of manufacturing and quality processes

• Excellent time management and communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

• Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills

Preferred:

• Experience with electrification or test cell design

• Project management experience in automotive engineering environments
