Mechanical Testing Specialist

Schedule: Monday – Friday | First Shift: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Job Type: Full-Time | 12-Month Contract
Starting Pay Rate: $52.69 per hour
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Mechanical Testing Specialist to join a cutting-edge aerospace systems development team in Seattle. This position is at the forefront of aircraft systems verification and validation, supporting the design and testing of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of flight-critical components and interfaces.

Design and execute mechanical test systems to simulate operational loads on aerospace components
Test flight control actuators and systems, including primary and secondary flight controls
Develop simulated control surfaces, load systems, and environmental enclosures
Support flight deck simulation for engineering testing of avionics, human interfaces, and flight control software
Test hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, accumulators, and tubing
Conduct safety assessments and troubleshooting of hydraulic sub-systems
Document test results and ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support model-based engineering and lab testing
Use 3D modeling tools and Microsoft Suite to support test planning and reporting
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
5+ years of relevant work experience in mechanical testing or aerospace systems
Experience with 3D modeling tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
BS in Mechanical Engineering
Experience with hydraulic systems, load systems, and mechanical design
Familiarity with model-based engineering tools (MATLAB, Simulink)
Experience performing lab testing to standards (ASTM, SAE)
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Experience following formal processes, procedures, and specifications
