Summary:
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a detail-oriented Fabrication Specialist for a 12-month assignment in New Orleans, LA. In this role, you’ll turn engineering concepts into reality by fabricating structural, mechanical, and electrical components critical to aerospace projects. Your craftsmanship will directly impact the performance, safety, and quality of our client’s cutting-edge products.
What You’ll Do:
Work in a Safety/FOD-sensitive environment (Foreign Object Debris/Damage) and Controlled Work Areas with components requiring varying levels of precision cleanliness.
Fabricate structural, mechanical, and electrical components from engineering drawings and CAD models.
Interpret 2D drawings and 3D models to layout, machine, assemble, wire, and test parts and subassemblies.
Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment; perform soldering, crimping, and wiring as needed.
Build and validate prototypes and small production runs, perform fit checks, functional tests, and troubleshoot issues.
Maintain process documentation, follow quality and safety procedures, and log test/assembly results.
Collaborate with engineers and project leads to resolve design or manufacturability issues.
Work with and install sensitive electronic devices and instrumentation (accelerometers, strain gauges, etc.).
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and 1+ year of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Mechanically inclined with strong hands-on aptitude and precise measurement skills.
Ability to interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
Relevant mechanical or electrical experience in a FOD-sensitive environment.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Former or current military background with familiarity in structured, safety-critical environments.
3+ years of fabrication or assembly experience, including soldering, riveting, welding, or sheet metal work.
Proven team player with strong communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative settings.

Position Details:
Job Type: Full-Time, Consultant (12 Months)
Location: New Orleans, LA
Shifts: 1st Shift (6:00am–2:00pm) | 2nd Shift (2:30pm–10:30pm)
Starting Pay Rate: $27-35/hour DOE
