Configuration Specialist
Location: Columbus, MS
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM CT (after initial training period)
Pay: $25 to $32.00/hr.
Duration: Open-ended contract
Work Environment: 100% Onsite
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Configuration Specialist to join our production planning department. In this administrative and technical support role, you’ll coordinate, track, and maintain all configuration-related activities for design changes—helping ensure that every aircraft is built and maintained to the highest standards. Your work will directly support product quality, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Configuration Management & Process Control
Issue, control, coordinate, and monitor configuration changes and related actions.
Maintain a reference database of change requests and notify all impacted stakeholders.
Standardize configuration control processes across multiple production sites.
Track and control all configuration-relevant design data within SAP.
Manage STC configuration changes for production and retrofit operations.
Archiving & Records
Maintain controlled document storage locations with current approved design data per company procedures.
Archive and preserve configuration records for historical and statistical purposes.
Organization & Coordination
Organize and facilitate change board meetings, prepare agendas, track actions, and distribute minutes.
Manage certified design bills of material, configuration lists, and deliveries per program requirements.
Create and maintain configuration baselines.
Prepare customer documentation packages for retrofit and production configurations.
Collaborate with engineering, production control, quality assurance, and other internal departments.
Additional Duties
Participate in joint change boards and support other configuration-related tasks as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in configuration administration within a production planning or manufacturing environment (SAP experience required).
Knowledge of configuration management processes and FAA regulations.
Strong technical terminology knowledge and understanding of industrial engineering principles.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and SAP modules MM & PP.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
Experience in certification or quality-related data management.
100% onsite role.
Ability to work on a computer for extended periods, attend meetings, and navigate production areas.
Capable of lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs occasionally.
PPE (steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection) required for shop floor visits.
