Job Type: Full-Time (12-Month Contract)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–2:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $70-80/hour
Join PDS Tech Commercial as an Technical Publications Specialist, where your work will contribute directly to the development, maintenance, and delivery of critical flight publications for domestic and international aerospace operations. You'll work alongside top-tier technical and operational experts and lead efforts that shape mission-critical documentation supporting large military aircraft.
Author, revise, and maintain flight manuals and supplements for large transport military aircraft, such as the C-17.
Collaborate with engineering, flight ops, and customer teams to ensure accuracy, usability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Serve as a subject matter expert on flight operations and manual content.
Support Foreign Military Sales (FMS) projects, developing flight manuals for international use.
Ensure publications meet military, program, and regulatory standards.
Lead quality reviews, configuration control, and manage updates across multiple concurrent projects.
Contribute to digital transformation initiatives, supporting electronic/manual transitions and digital authoring tools.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aeronautical Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
10+ years of aviation experience, including 5+ years in flight manual or technical publication development.
Former experience as a pilot or flight crew member on military or large transport aircraft.
Deep understanding of flight operations, aircraft systems, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., S1000D, MIL-STD, ICAO).
Skilled in XML, SGML, XPP, Arbortext, scripting, and batch file processes.
Strong communication, writing, and editorial skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple timelines.
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred:
Experience with C-17 flight manuals or other large military transport aircraft.
Background in Foreign Military Sales (FMS) or working with international clients.
Familiarity with IETMs, EFBs, version control, and digital delivery systems.
Project management experience and knowledge of Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma methodologies.
Pilot's License.
