Position: Liaison Engineer (Mid-Level)
Location: Portland, OR
Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Consultant
Staring Pay : $52.33 per hour
Schedule: Variable – Must be available to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including weekends
Work Setting: 100% Onsite

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking skilled Mid-Level Liaison Engineers to support a premier aerospace site in Portland, Oregon. In this hands-on role, you won’t just support production—you’ll lead it forward, applying engineering expertise right on the floor to solve real-time problems and ensure aircraft components meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Investigate and resolve production non-conformances through root cause analysis and corrective action.

  • Apply engineering principles and Boeing design standards to identify product/process improvements.

  • Collaborate directly with production teams to ensure design intent is maintained throughout manufacturing.

  • Support Integrated Product Teams and participate in design reviews.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to verify compliance and quality standards.

  • Design interim structural repairs and analyze structural modifications for safety and effectiveness.

  • Participate in accident investigations and product repair teams.

  • Develop non-destructive test methods and tooling procedures.


Who We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (ABET or ABET-equivalent accredited program).

  • 5+ years of experience in structures, systems, design, or production engineering.

  • 2+ years of Engineering Material Review Board (MRB) experience.

  • This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               

  • Ability to work all three shifts and weekends in a factory environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with strong knowledge in the following areas will stand out:

  • Materials & Processing: Experience with steel, aluminum, titanium; machining effects; post-processing methods.

  • Machining & GD&T: Knowledge of complex geometry, tolerance analysis, and metrology tools (e.g., Spatial Analyzer).

  • Gears & Shafts: Understanding of gear profiles, engagement mechanics, and fitment tolerances.

  • Repair Methods: Proficiency in part rework, insert installation, corrosion protection, and surface restoration.

  • Functional Testing: Familiarity with aircraft-level testing (RPM, torque, clearance diagnostics).

  • Plating & Finishing: Hands-on experience with heat treat, anodizing, passivation, and painting processes.

Pay Details: $52.33 per hour
