Aircraft Mechanic - Structural

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic to support aerospace Global Services' C-17 team in San Antonio, TX. This full-time, 9-month consultant position plays a crucial role in the structural integrity and performance of military aircraft used around the world. Your expertise will help ensure these aircraft remain mission-ready, safe, and reliable.
Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation tasks on aircraft structures
Locate and modify structural components, including blind hole installations
Read and interpret technical documentation, including engineering drawings, T.O.s, and specs
Use aircraft-specific tools (e.g., torque wrenches, test equipment, sheet metal brakes)
Troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical and structural aircraft components
Access and update aircraft data using computer systems and online tools
Support a safe working environment via Lock Out/Tag Out and Hazardous Energy procedures
Work in confined spaces, ascend/descend ladders, and lift up to 35 pounds
Collaborate with team members in avionics, general mechanics, and electronics disciplines
Maintain all necessary certifications and adhere to safety, FOD, and tool control protocols
Pass a technical assessment following initial training
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of experience working with aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel
Proficiency in interpreting schematics, blueprints, and SOPs
4+ years of experience with structural tools (e.g., rivet guns, countersinks, 45/90-degree drills)
Expertise in heavy structural maintenance including locating, drilling, and fastening (e.g., doublers, seat tracks)
Willingness to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, or holidays
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with C-17 or depot-level heavy maintenance
Skilled in working with titanium aircraft structures
Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, or elevated work platforms
