Summary:
Fabricate and install upholstery, cover panels, and create simple patterns for aircraft interiors following design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.
Fabricate and install flat panels, curtains, and sew simple covers using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.
Work with fabric, vinyl, leather hides, composites, adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools, and power tools.
Cut and serge carpets; cover bulkheads and panels.
May fabricate metal parts and fit panels, windows, cabin headliners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, and windows.
Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off on completed work.
Collaborate with lead and senior technicians to develop and implement process improvements that enhance safety, reduce cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Manufacturing and other techniques.
Use the Corridor material tracking system to manage parts demands and work tracking.
Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and use personal protective equipment as required.
Identify and address unsafe conditions to protect team safety.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers, and various hand tools in upholstery or carpet trades.
Aerospace industry experience preferred.
Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
Skilled in using measuring tools and performing basic math calculations.
Computer literate.
Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any assigned shift.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
