Position: Facilities Plant Engineer
Location: North Charleston, SC
Job Type: Full-Time | Consultant (12 Months)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | First Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $46.41 – $49.05 per hour
Worksite: 100% Onsite

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s Global Real Estate and Facilities team in North Charleston. In this dynamic role, you’ll support the critical infrastructure that powers the 787 Dreamliner program—from HVAC and utility systems to building renovations and equipment installation. Your engineering expertise will help keep operations running efficiently, safely, and sustainably.
Support the mechanical systems of buildings and facilities, including central utility distribution and stand-alone operations
Perform root cause analysis and implement reliability tools to reduce downtime and improve asset performance
Define project requirements and provide input on building modifications and infrastructure upgrades
Create design plans, material specs, and cost estimates for facilities improvement projects
Conduct field inspections, contractor oversight, and ensure regulatory and code compliance
Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal customers to ensure timely and successful execution of facility projects
Troubleshoot and support reactive maintenance for HVAC, compressed air, and related industrial systems
Utilize tools like AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Revit to support project planning and documentation
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
4+ years of relevant experience (or a combination of education and experience)
Experience with HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, or compressed air systems in industrial/manufacturing environments
2+ years of hands-on experience in facilities, engineering, or maintenance roles
Ability to work onsite and adapt to a fast-paced, high-stakes aerospace setting
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
5+ years supporting or installing industrial mechanical systems
Familiarity with TRANE, Honeywell, Allen-Bradley, or Johnson Controls systems
Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and building automation systems
Background in reactive maintenance and system troubleshooting
