PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Airworthiness & Regulatory Engineer to lead investigative and compliance activities that directly impact the safety and certification of commercial aircraft. In this critical role, you'll spearhead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions that ensure regulatory compliance and uphold aviation standards across the entire aircraft lifecycle.
As part of a dedicated Safety & Compliance Investigations team, you’ll lead cross-functional teams to resolve regulatory and airworthiness issues, working closely with leadership, engineers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Your work ensures operational integrity, regulatory compliance, and aircraft safety from production through operations.
Lead investigations of regulatory and airworthiness issues, including FAA Letters of Investigation, compliance actions, and audit findings.
Conduct structured root cause investigations using methods such as 5-Whys, Fishbone analysis, and problem-solving frameworks.
Collaborate with engineering teams (Systems, Structures, Payloads, Propulsion) to identify systemic root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and regulatory partners to drive resolution.
Prepare detailed investigation reports that meet regulatory expectations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Communicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required:
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
1+ years of relevant engineering, airworthiness, or compliance experience.
Strong communication and leadership skills with a drive to lead cross-functional projects.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred:
5+ years of experience in airworthiness, regulatory compliance, or certification.
Working knowledge of FAA regulatory compliance and ODA procedures (per 8100.15).
Hands-on experience with RCCA methodologies (5-Whys, Fishbone, or similar).
Background in aircraft systems design or analysis (Flight Controls, Hydraulics, Avionics, etc.).
Prior experience working with FAA or other regulatory agencies.
Pilot’s License or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License is a plus.
