Are you passionate about solving complex engineering challenges in the aerospace industry? At PDS Tech Commercial, we’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an elite team in Wilsonville, OR, supporting avionics test systems for Aerospace. In this hands-on, high-impact role, your designs will directly support the development, production, and testing of cutting-edge aerospace technologies.
Design, modify, and document mechanical systems for test equipment
Analyze mechanical systems for performance, reliability, and tolerance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers to solve production and testing problems
Create and verify documentation including 3D models, technical drawings, and system layouts
Develop precision assemblies and interconnect hardware, including optical components
Support prototype builds, design verification, and transition to production
Reverse engineer components and troubleshoot issues using hands-on testing and debugging
Present technical findings to peers, leadership, and customers
Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree
Solid expertise in mechanical design tools: SolidWorks, NX Designer, AutoCAD, and familiarity with 3D printing
Strong grasp of mechanical design and analysis principles
Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams
Ability to translate complex requirements into practical mechanical solutions
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Hands-on problem-solver with a detail-driven approach
Experience designing for optical manufacturing environments
Familiarity with avionics systems
Skilled in GD&T and stack-up tolerance analysis
Knowledge of fabrication processes like CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, and additive manufacturing
