We’re seeking an experienced engineer ready to tackle structural challenges head-on, ensuring the strength, safety, and performance of commercial airframes from concept to certification.
As a Static Stress Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in analyzing and verifying the structural integrity of aircraft components. You’ll work closely with design, fatigue, and certification teams, applying both classical and modern numerical methods to create robust, lightweight structures.
Performing complex static stress analyses on metallic and composite parts.
Supporting airframe development, including sizing, layout maturation, trade studies, and in-service modifications.
Delivering documentation for drawing approvals, design reviews, and certification milestones.
Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop optimal structural solutions.
Leading discussions and presenting technical findings with clarity and confidence.
Contributing to process improvement initiatives to boost team efficiency and innovation.
Pursuing and utilizing Static Approver/Authorizer signatory certifications.
Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering with a strong foundation in structural mechanics.
Minimum 6 years of experience in aircraft structural analysis and design.
Expertise in classical hand calculations and Finite Element Methods (FEM).
Proficiency in working both independently and in fast-paced teams.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Willingness to travel up to 10% (domestic and limited international).
Experience in certification processes and familiarity with FAA/EASA compliance standards.
Prior signatory authority (Static Approver/Authorizer) or the ability to obtain it.
Onsite Requirement: Minimum 90% onsite at our Wichita, KS engineering office.
Travel: Light domestic travel (~5–10%), may vary by project.
Physical Needs: Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs occasionally, daily computer use, and routine office mobility.
PPE: Steel-toe shoes required for any shop floor visits; additional hearing and eye protection as needed.
