Chipton-Ross is seeking an Aircraft Structural Mechanic for a contract opportunity in San Antonio, TX.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless
o 4+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
o 4+ years of experience using structures hand tools such as: drills 45 and 90 degrees, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns
o 4+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking and fastening structures (i.e.. doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) to aircraft
o Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirements and workload
o The candidate must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
o Exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms
o Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required.
o Pass visual acuity and color perception tests
o Read, write, and comprehend the English language
o Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material
o Obtain & maintain training certifications as required to support assignment responsibilities
o Occasional (1 to 3 hrs) finger manipulation
o On occasion, a 2-person lift may be necessary for weights greater than 50 lbs
o Frequent reaching overhead (3 to 6 hrs)
o Frequent walking on flat surfaces
o Frequent standing flat or uneven surfaces
o Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces
o Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands
o Rotation of head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bend/stoop, lying down, and operate foot controls for an extended period of time
o Occasional contact with metals
o Frequent exposure to noise

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical area
o Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structure
o Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processes
o Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair
o Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts
o Knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components
o Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems
o Knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
o Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
o Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work
o Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
o Ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performance via Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications
o Assist other team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electronics) to ensure cost/schedule targets are met
o This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
o The position requires the ability to pass an assessment at the end of training cycle
o The position requires compliance to SA Site Tool and FOD procedure


REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Accredited High school diploma or GED and typically 4+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This work assignment has been designated as "safety-sensitive" by the Client. Contractors assigned to safety-sensitive jobs at the Client site must first complete regulatory pre-placement requirements prior to reporting to assignment. Additionally, contractors assigned to safety-sensitive work will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal mandates.
