We're currently seeking a Software Engineer to support our client’s Communications Systems Software (CSS) team in Manhattan Beach, CA. About the Role

As a Software Engineer, you’ll be part of a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary team working on automated test sets for advanced optical communication systems. You’ll develop test set software in C#, contribute to GUIs, scripts, calibration routines, and more, all while collaborating with optical and hardware experts to bring precision and innovation to mission-critical aerospace technologies.

This on-site role is ideal for a confident engineer with full life cycle software development experience, a systems-level mindset, and a drive to work hands-on in a lab environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, test, and debug applications software for high-performance test systems.

• Collaborate with hardware engineers and system designers to build and refine automated test equipment.

• Write drivers, control scripts, calibration processes, and graphical user interfaces.

• Work hands-on with instruments like spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and switches.

• Ensure software solutions align with established aerospace industry standards.

• Support planning and analysis of system capabilities to meet evolving product demands.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field with:

  • 5+ years of experience (or 3+ with a Master’s, 1+ with a Ph.D.)

• Proficient in C# and object-oriented software design.

• Experience in lab environments using instruments such as noise/signal generators and spectrum/network analyzers.

• Comfortable with rapid development cycles and agile-like processes.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Prior full-time corporate experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hardware validation and verification of optical, RF, or mixed signal devices.

• Familiarity with full software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, and system integration.

• Experience with waterfall, spiral, or agile development methodologies.

• Systems-level understanding and long-term technical vision.
