AI Engineer Systems Architect

Description:

Architect the Future of Aerospace AI — Now Hiring: AI Engineer Systems Architect
Location: Gilbert, AZ (Hybrid) | Full-Time, Consultant (9 Months) | Pay: $86.35 – $111.69/hr | Schedule: 9x80

At PDS Tech Commercial, we connect visionaries and innovators with opportunities that push the boundaries of what’s possible. We are currently seeking a top-tier AI Engineer Systems Architect to support a high-impact project in the aerospace industry, working on next-generation space systems that demand world-class expertise in AI, radiation effects, and systems survivability.

This position requires a security clearance, and candidates are required to be U.S. Citizens.

Your Mission

As an AI Engineer Systems Architect, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing, modeling, and designing satellite payload systems capable of surviving the harsh radiation environment of space. You’ll work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, systems architecture, and radiation survivability—crafting smart, resilient technologies that can perform reliably in orbit and beyond. This is your opportunity to contribute to systems that will shape space exploration for decades.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct in-depth radiation analysis for satellite payload systems and electronics.

  • Develop and document test plans and reports for total dose, prompt dose, and single-event effect testing.

  • Utilize cutting-edge tools such as NOVICE, SPENVIS, CREME96, and OMERE for space radiation modeling and predictions.

  • Evaluate material degradation due to radiation and propose design mitigations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in electrical, mechanical, EMI/EMC/ESD, procurement, and testing disciplines.

  • Present findings and compliance results in design reviews (PDR, CDR) and technical briefings to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Analyze effects such as Single Event Upsets, Latchups, Burnouts, Transients, and recommend circuit-level solutions.

  • Conduct Total Ionizing Dose (TID) and Displacement Damage Dose (DDD) analysis on components and optoelectronics.

  • Perform spacecraft shielding and deep charging analysis for external harnesses and component boxes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Radiation Effects and Survivability (RES) engineering.

  • Deep understanding of radiation effects in semiconductor devices and materials.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.

  • Demonstrated success in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related technical discipline.

  • Proficiency with radiation analysis tools such as AE9/AP9, CRÈME, SPENVIS.

  • CAD modeling experience with Creo Parametric.

  • Knowledge of survivability standards and compliance requirements for spaceborne systems.
