Description:
General Summary:
Client is seeking an experienced Aerospace Stress Engineer with a robust background in the analysis, certification, and testing of both composite and metallic primary structures. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for stress analysis of composite primary structures (experience with metallic structures is highly desirable).
• Conduct detailed stress analysis using both classical hand calculation methods (e.g., Bruhn, Peery, Roark, ESDU) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
• Prepare and author certification stress reports; collaborate with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs).
• Support and interpret structural testing activities.
• Clearly communicate and justify analysis methods, assumptions, and results to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering required; master’s degree preferred.
• FAA DER certification (14 CFR Part 23/25) is a significant plus but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Expertise in Finite Element Analysis tools such as NASTRAN and FEMAP.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with 3D solid modeling using CATIA V5—ability to manipulate and extract data from models.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic (VB), or MATLAB is a strong plus.
