PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a PLC Controls Engineer to lead and execute high-impact automation projects across the U.S. This is a travel-intensive role for a seasoned professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is ready to take ownership of complex systems from design through commissioning.
Role Summary
As a PLC Controls Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and commissioning of electrical control systems for post and parcel material handling projects. You’ll manage the full project lifecycle, from planning and budgeting to on-site execution and customer acceptance testing. This role requires a systems-level thinker with strong leadership, technical, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning, reporting, and execution of electrical controls projects
Design and implement PLC programs and HMI systems
Manage project scope, budget, and schedule
Execute test plans (BUAT/UAT/FAT) and support on-site commissioning
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and customers
Maintain documentation and ensure alignment with customer expectations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
7+ years of controls engineering experience in warehouse automation or material handling
Leadership experience managing multiple projects or programs
Expertise in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff)
Experience with motion control, VFDs, and industrial network protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet)
