Location: North Charleston, SC | Full-Time Consultant | $32.80–$41.37/hr | 12-Month Contract
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking Metrology & Calibration Technicians to support an advanced aerospace facility in North Charleston, SC. In this role, you’ll ensure that every measurement taken in the lab or on the line is accurate, traceable, and compliant—powering the development of safe, high-performance aircraft and systems. This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
As part of the Metrology and Test Equipment Services (MATES) team, your responsibilities will include:
Calibrate, Certify, and Repair: Use approved standards and procedures to calibrate and maintain Measurement & Test Equipment (M&TE) and process systems across multiple disciplines—electrical, mechanical, dimensional, and more.
Test & Troubleshoot: Conduct routine testing, evaluate results, and resolve issues related to measurement accuracy or lab operations.
Documentation & Analysis: Record calibration results, perform test data analysis, and ensure traceability to national and international standards.
Asset & Property Management: Tag, store, redeploy, and surplus test assets while maintaining accurate inventory records.
Support Logistics: Coordinate the routing of equipment to remote labs and suppliers for calibration services, including contract tracking and backlog management.
Collaborate & Innovate: Work with engineers and technicians to refine calibration methods and contribute to developing new procedures for evolving technologies.
Daily Operations: Follow lab scheduling priorities, conduct visual inspections, manage non-conforming equipment, and provide technical support to internal customers.
1+ years of experience in metrology, calibration, instrumentation, or related technical field
3+ years of calibration or metrology experience
Background in mechanical systems and test instrumentation
Experience on production-oriented quality teams
Associate degree or higher in a related field
5+ years of relevant work experience (or equivalent education and training)
