PDS Tech Commercial is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer III to support a cutting-edge Launch Vehicles (LV) program with our client in Chandler, AZ. As a member of the Structural Analysis team, you’ll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside engineers in loads and dynamics, thermal, aero, and materials testing. Your structural expertise will play a pivotal role in the design, analysis, and validation of advanced launch vehicle components. From conceptual design to manufacturing support, your work will help bring high-performance aerospace systems to life.
Perform detailed hand calculations and conduct linear and non-linear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural components
Support launch vehicle development by troubleshooting design issues and contributing to design iterations
Present technical findings to leadership and customers, and produce formal engineering documentation
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including design, materials, and test engineering
Develop and implement material testing methods for metallic and composite materials
Support structural design changes for high-temperature and hypersonic applications
Contribute to Ground Support Equipment (GSE) design and analysis
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 10–14 years of experience
Hands-on experience with structural engineering tools such as Femap, NASTRAN, NASGRO, Abaqus, MathCAD, NX, or Teamcenter
Solid understanding of structural methods, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques
Experience in GSE structural design or analysis
Strong communication and technical reporting skills
Master’s or Ph.D. in a STEM discipline with 8–10 years of experience
Expertise in high-temperature materials and hypersonic structural applications
Proficiency in composite materials analysis (carbon, ceramic)
Knowledge of fatigue, fracture mechanics, and Fracture Control Plans
