PDS Tech Commercial is searching for a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team developing software that powers next-generation aviation and missile defense systems. This role is ideal for engineers with a deep understanding of embedded systems who want their work to make a difference in national defense.

You won’t just write code — you’ll architect, design, and integrate the embedded software that ensures precision, speed, and security in complex real-time applications.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of a collaborative and cross-functional team, you will:

• Develop, design, and integrate software solutions for real-time embedded systems.

• Perform deep analysis, debug complex issues, and deliver fully integrated, production-level software.

• Support and evolve existing software, ensuring robust operation and high reliability in mission-critical environments.

• Translate system requirements into clear, testable, software-level requirements and use cases.

• Collaborate with SEIT teams on system concepts, external interfaces, sequences, and operational scenarios.

• Author technical documents such as design specifications, algorithm documents, and functional design documentation.

• Participate in proposal development and software architecture planning.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s, 6 years with a Master’s, or 4 years with a PhD.

• Proficiency in C programming and object-oriented programming.

• Experience with real-time embedded applications, including low-level firmware and secure RTOS development.

• Familiarity with ARM architectures and peripheral integration.

• Strong understanding of the formal software development lifecycle, from requirements through to verification.

• Experience working in Agile environments using Jira, Git, and Bitbucket.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with missile defense systems, especially launch, targeting, and fire control.

• Knowledge of hardware/software testing strategies, including hands-on missile or system-level testing.

• Familiarity with PowerPC architectures, VHDL/Verilog, and FPGA-based design.

• Strong cross-functional communication and team collaboration skills.
