Location: Tempe, AZ | $23.54/hr | 2nd Shift | 6-Month Contract
PDS Tech Commercial is looking for a detail-driven Metrology Technician to support one of our aerospace industry clients in Tempe, AZ. In this second-shift, full-time consulting role, you’ll be at the heart of mission-critical quality control—calibrating and testing instruments that keep aerospace systems operating with absolute precision.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
As a Metrology Technician, you’ll perform hands-on calibration, verification, and adjustment of precision measurement tools and instruments to ensure they meet industry and safety standards.
Your day-to-day will include:
Calibrating mechanical, electronic, and dimensional instruments following pre-set procedures
Testing instruments for accuracy and making adjustments as needed
Documenting results and maintaining calibration records using software systems like IndySoft or Fluke Met/Team
Working under supervision and following established guidelines
Performing minor lifting (10–15 lbs.) and operating in low-risk industrial environments
Supporting quality assurance teams with reliable measurement data
2–4 years of experience in calibration, metrology, or a related technical field
High school diploma or GED
Proficiency with hand tools and familiarity with dimensional calibration tools (e.g., gage blocks, micrometers, calipers, thread plug and ring gages)
Basic algebra and geometry skills
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or completion of a military PMEL, TMDE, or calibration program
Experience with metrology software: IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Met/Track, or Met/Cal
Previous customer service experience in technical environments
Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Steel-toed shoes required for the role.
