SR. POWER ELECTRONICS AND CONTROLS ENGINEER

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Sr. Power Electronics and Controls Engineer will lead the development of a variety of power conversion devices and motor control systems from early stages of design through final testing and manufacturing support. Perform analysis and simulation of control loops and circuit elements to ensure product performance and reliability. Provide leadership in development of design processes for power electronics that result in predictable high value design outcomes. Work effectively with manufacturing engineering, planning, and procurement to ensure that new designs flow predictably into production, meeting cost, DFX, and other required goals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND NECESSARY BACKGROUND:

• Proven performance in design of high power system products

• Design for EMC including circuit board layout, control, and filter design.

• Control loop design and optimization.

• Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team (engineering, manufacturing, planning, purchasing, field service, marketing, etc.)

• Must be able to complete complex tasks with minimum supervision

• Ability to understand complex systems from engineering documentation.

• Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.

• Good knowledge of automotive standards and test methods preferred.

• Experience with planning, executing and managing outsourced developments (partial or turn-key)

• Experience in design requirements for regulatory requirements (UL, CE, NEC, etc.)

• Excellent organizational and communication skills including ability to communicate and foster communication between collaborating groups.

• Experience developing-for, transitioning and maintaining test platforms for use at contract manufacturers, particularly in Asia

• Off line and DC/DC power electronics and Magnetics design for high frequency switching power supplies.

• IGBT and MOSFET operation and drive techniques, design for Power Factor and power factor correction

• Thermal design

• BSEE and minimum 7 years of applicable experience in three phase and DC/DC high frequency power supplies.

• MSEE preferred.
