QC Supervisor

The Supervisor, Quality develops and maintains quality systems to meet business objectives and customer expectations, as well as appropriate quality metrics to evaluate progress to strategic goals.  

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provides direct leadership to department staff by leading, managing, supporting and coaching members ensuring continual development of competencies.
  2. Evaluates and monitors employee performance through performance plans and assessments, developing performance objectives, coaching, counseling, providing and documenting appropriate training.
  3. Trains personnel in the implementation of inspection policies and procedures.
  4. Works with all levels of employees to resolve problems and keep incoming materials on schedule.
  5. Leads and implements strategy for the quality management system and gain support from cross functional key stakeholders within the organization.
  6. Assesses inspection requirements and assign inspection projects and tasks to inspection personnel. Troubleshoots and solves inspection issues.
  7. Evaluates and monitors employee performance based on goals and metrics, through performance plans and assessments, developing performance objectives, coaching, and counseling, providing and documenting appropriate training.
  8. Drives corrective action to facilitate process improvements.
  9. Develops and maintains an appropriate organizational structure to support the quality function.

Education, Certifications, and Licensures:
  1. BA/BS degree with 2 - 4+ years of experience or AA degree with 4 – 6+ years of experience in a Technical Field, i.e. Engineering, Quality and/or Science.
  2. 2 or more years of leadership experience in an industrial environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of aircraft industry quality system standards and knowledge of manufacturing processes and related process controls.
  2. Knowledge of statistical analysis tools.
  3. Willingness to travel periodically as required (domestic & internationally).
  4. Lean and/or Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
  5. ASQ or ISO91000 certification.
  6. Familiarity with Federal/Military specifications, processes and standards in compliance with company and customer requirements.
  7. Good organizational and time management skills.
  8. Strong communication skills to interact and present findings to team members, management and support personnel.
  9. Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  10. Interpersonal skills for interacting with project and task team members.
  11. Good personal computer and business solutions software skills.
  12. Ability to handle activities on multiple projects and tasks within the same or different accounts.
  13. Ability to work independently.
  14. Ability to work in a team environment, even when remote support is required.
  15. Ability to deal with and manage change.
  16. Ability to complete assigned responsibilities in a given timeframe within a given budget.
  17. Ability to handle multiple project and task responsibilities simultaneously and switch among them quickly to meet prioritized business needs.
  18. Ability to independently generate presentations regarding quality assurance group activities/status and present them to senior quality management and development staff.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.
  7. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
  8. Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
