Title TEMP Staff Aerodynamics & Performance Engineer

•Develop analysis tools, perform mathematical modeling, and provide aerodynamic design support for new aircraft and modifications to existing aircraft (both fixed wing and/or rotorcraft).
•Support various tests including wind tunnel tests and flight tests, including reducing and analyzing the data after the test and documenting the results.
•Responsibilities will include aerodynamic database development, aircraft performance analysis, mathematical modeling, simulation development and support, flight data analysis, and documentation.
•Position requires strong analytical and communication skills (written & oral) and the ability to work closely with different test and design groups, including the CFD, Simulation, Software, and Flight Controls Groups.
•Candidate must be competent with Matlab, MS office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and have excellent technical writing skills.
•Familiarity with MS Project, C++, Simulink, and expert user of Matlab is desirable.
Prior experience with aircraft flight testing and knowledge of flight dynamics, flight data analysis and interpretation, and development of data analysis tools would be very useful.
•Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree.
•Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
•Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems. Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
•Able to work extended hours as required.
•A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
Qualifications Essential Qualifications Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or ten or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project and/or program leadership including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones. Must posses the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles; resolve unusually complex technical problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be a technical expert in one or more areas of engineering. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives. Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment. Able to work extended hours as required. A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, invited to present one or more original works to a national or international engineering symposium, and invited to Chair engineering review panels as a technical expert are desirable.
