MRB Structural Analyst (Avionics/Space)

Description:
A MRB Structural Analyst role with Belcan Engineering Group is currently available in Bear Valley Springs, CA. This is a contract role planned for an initial duration of 6 months with the potential to extend. To be considered for this role, you will need Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent, and 5+ years of experience in airframe structural analysis. In this job your primary responsibility will be classical hand calculation and finite element analysis for aircraft and suborbital spacecraft. You will also provide build support including MRB.

MRB Structural Finite Analyst job duties:
* Perform structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as well as classical aircraft hand stress analysis methods
* Generate and maintain ownership of air and space vehicle structural finite element models
* Perform plan, model, and results reviews, internally and with the customer
* Ensure that calculations and models are systematically checked and validated
* Perform analysis, evaluate results, and prepare formal reports of the findings
* Liaise with heat transfer, fluids, design engineering, drafting, and other teams as required
* Maintain strong communication with the internal project management
* Work within a small team to achieve project success
* Manage your own project work

Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with a concentration in a relevant Engineering discipline
* Minimum 7 years of applicable experience in the analysis of Primary Structural systems using strength of materials methods on primary aircraft/spacecraft structure on both Carbon Composites and Metallic Structures.
* Minimum 3 years Stress MRB or Stress Fleet Support experience including Analytical substantiation.
* Minimum 3 years experience in carbon composites and metallic primary structures, analysis and sizing using FEA models, including pre and post processing of NASTRAN models and associated sizing as well as strong knowledge of manufacturing and repair of such structural components. Must be able to debug and edit solver input files and fully familiar with different keywords as well as ensure the validity of FEM models and results
* Minimum 2 years experience with Damage Tolerance and Fatigue Analysis on both Metallic and Composites.
* Strong Experience with free-body diagrams and classical stress analysis techniques as well as perfectly familiar with industry standard handbooks stress analysis methods.
* Hands-on experience with composites part fabrication and assembly processes.
* Proficiency in FEMAP a plus
* Good understanding and experience in the design of aircraft mechanical systems and landing gears.
* Pilot, aircraft homebuilding and rapid prototyping experience a strong plus
* Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23 and 25, military or NASA are highly desired
* Experience with manufacturing-based ERP systems, such as Oracle, is a plus
