Electrical Engineer - Power - Refinery Exp (OK)

Description:
Electrical engineer provides project develop, technical expertise and project management in all areas related to the Ponca City Refinery’s electrical system.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide electrical engineering for refinery capital improvement projects.

Electrical engineers occasionally have responsibilities related to instrumentation. This position will be in the Refinery Technical Services group.

Responsibilities for an Electrical Engineer include but are not limited to:

1. Develop on e-line diagrams that will accomplish the needs of a project and the reliability of the refinery.
a. How to implement enough to control cost on a project while allowing expansion in the future
b. Show protective relaying schemes.

2. Develop options and develop Substation layouts that will accomplish the need of a project and the reliability of the refinery.
c. How to implement enough to control cost on a project while allowing expansion in the future
d. Show equipment layout using appropriate working space requirements.

3. Brainstorm options and develop Medium Voltage and low voltage feeder routing using either cable tray or conduit in classified areas.
e. Use proper grounding.
f. Structural steel to run the tray on.
g. Interface between multiple engineering disciplines required to get the steel done.

4. Conduct and evaluate power studies (with ETAP) of electrical systems to verify that the new electrical equipment will work for:
h. Load Flow
i. Voltage Drop
j. Incident Energy (Arc Flash)
k. Short Circuit Current Analysis (Bracing)

5. Medium Voltage Switchgear experience in design
l. Writing specifications
m. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
n. Incorporating protective relaying schemes using Schweitzer relays
o. Familiar with GE Powervac switchgear and GE’s new Entelliguard system

6. Medium Voltage MCC’s (Specific to Allen Bradley)
p. Writing specifications
q. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
r. Brainstorm electrical schematics used to install the MCCs
s. Incorporating protective relaying schemes using Schweitzer relays

7. Medium Voltage Bus Duct
t. Writing specifications
u. Approve vendor (shop) drawings

8. Unit substation Medium & Low Voltage transformers
v. Writing specifications
w. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
x. Incorporating protective relaying schemes using Schweitzer relays

9. Low Voltage Switchgear (Schweitzer relaying and GE’s new Entelliguard)
y. Writing specifications
z. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
aa. Incorporating protective relaying schemes using Schweitzer relays
bb. Familiar with GE Powervac switchgear and GE’s new Entelliguard system

10. Low Voltage Bus Duct
cc. Writing specifications
dd. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
11. Low Voltage MCCs
ee. Writing specifications
ff. Approve vendor (shop) drawings
gg. Brainstorm electrical schematics used to install the MCCs

Minimum applicable experience is 5+ years.

Must have a BSEE Degree.

Interface with vendors, engineering contractors and construction contractors throughout a project.

Manage power requirements and coordinate with other projects in progress.

Prepare cost estimates (both budgetary and definitive) for current and future electrical projects.

Review and approve electrical drawings for projects pertaining to equipment location, one-line diagrams, electrical area classification and schematics.

Support multidisciplinary projects by providing electrical expertise and recommendations.

Plan and promote all work to be completed in a safe manner.

Perform safety inspections and project pre-startup safety reviews.

Manage electrical projects (e.g., safety, cost & schedule) from conceptual studies, design, construction and safe start-up.

Perform preliminary engineering studies by preparing project objectives letter, milestone schedule and cost estimate for current and future projects.

Application of the company standards in electrical design, equipment specifications, construction and testing.

Participate in the development of work scope for electrical equipment related to turnaround and capital projects.

Develop projects to meet Reliability Group objectives including capacity, growth, reliability, maintainability and expendability.

Application and interpretation of National Electric Code and other applicable codes and standards (e.g. NFPA, API, UL, API, etc.)

Adherence to city and county regulations including special equipment approvals (UL) and building permits.
