Engineering Technician - Verily Life Sciences

Location: South San Francisco, CA

Terms: Long Term Contract Employment

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

Fabrication of thin plastic lenses.
Mold handling.
Inventory management.
Required Skills:

3 years of hands-on experience in microelectronic or medical device assembly.
Experience working with silicones, epoxies, polyurethanes or other medical plastics.
Attention to detail, proactive, organized and thorough with a desire for continuous improvement.
Must have a high level of hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small plastic and metal components under microscope.
Ability to utilize basic math skills.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
Able to work in a laboratory environment (standing, sitting, stooping) for long periods.
Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have Skills:

Prior experience in medical device microassembly, optics, inspection and electronic evaluation.
Experience with microscopy.
Ability to track, document and assess process related quality issues.
Prior experience in a clean room environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as ability to communicate effectively with scientist and engineers from a wide range of technical backgrounds.
Attention to detail, proactive, organized and thorough with a desire for continuous improvement.

The Integration Team ensures that these cutting-edge technologies come together to realize devices that are reliable, robust and ultimately meet the needs of wearers worldwide.
In the R&D lab, you will execute and help develop protocols using a variety of microfabrication and microassembly techniques to produce prototypes and meet the needs of the Testing and Validation teams.
You will work closely with Verily Engineers to improve designs, troubleshoot, and scale these processes to meet Verily's standards of quality and reliability.

As an Engineering Technician, you will assist a team of engineers in a large variety of tasks including device assembly, material preparation, test fixture prototyping, testing and data reporting.
Responsibilities:

Execute and manage parallel process flows involving multiple device builds. Follow SOPs to manufacture prototype devices, and perform tests, analyze data, and assist in drafting SOPs and Test Instructions.
Maintain and stock materials as necessary to support device builds and prototype production.
Detailed inspection and verification of process quality standards including documentation and metrology including use of microscopy and metrology equipment.
Hands on work within a laboratory setting handling sensitive optical and electronic parts and materials.
Has the ability to work in cleanroom microassembly environment by maintaining a clean and safe work environment and keeps equipment fully functioning.
Performing and documenting in-process quality checks on finished product.
Ability to work in cleanroom microassembly environment by maintaining a clean and safe work environment and keep equipment fully functioning.
Maintaining clean room integrity by using proper attire and adherence to clean room environment practices and procedures.
Preparing lot history records where necessary.
Working with engineers and technicians to resolve line issues and suggest improvements.
