Systems Engineering Manager

Thie successful candidate will be joining the development team.



Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the Systems Engineering function and team as it enters production phase;

  • Partner with external developers to develop and verify systems through integration and test;

  • Perform functional hazard analysis and simulation, gather data, perform DFMEAs to down-select among alternative architectures based on cost, reliability, safety, and functional requirements;

  • Design systems that are resistant to failures, noise, and parameter variation;

  • Plan, estimate, sequence, and measure the completion of work according to targets and metrics;

  • Elicit, document, and review requirements from all stakeholders: FAA, NHTSA, functional, DFX;

  • Generate and manage the product system-level requirements and architecture documents;

  • Architect data flow diagrams and subsystem interface control documents (ICDs);

  • Allocate requirements to architecture and subsystems and manage integration and validation;

  • Work across electrical, controls, software, mechanical, and power electronics engineering functions to develop product capabilities;

  • Design test-beds or simulations to develop system capabilities prior to vehicle integration;

  • Allocate and manage cost, weight, technology readiness Level (TRL), and reliability metrics;

  • Write test plans, coordinate tests, and document results including HALT and corner-conditions;

  • Manage closed-loop controls development software, sensors, actuators, and user interfaces including state machines, data flow, timing diagrams, fault detection, and recourse;

  • Work with software engineers to implement control laws into embedded controllers.


Qualifications


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills;

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering;

  • New Product Development (NPD) and gate review process experience;

  • Outstanding organization, analytical, innovation, and problem solving skills;

  • FAR Part 23 system development process experience (aviation/aerospace);

  • Ability to manage a team;

  • Time and frequency domain math modeling, aliasing, stability;

  • Understanding of power, energy, HEV topologies, actuators, sensors, human-machine interface;

  • Methods: function flow, use case analysis, state machines, timing diagrams, data flow;

  • Process templates: DOD 498, ARP 4754, INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook, V-Model;

  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MATLAB;

  • Holds a valid US driver's license.


Highly Desired Qualifications


  • Master's degree in Engineering;

  • Automatic code generation;

  • Automotive control system development;

  • Formal Systems Engineering training or certification;

  • Closed loop multi-variable classical, state-space, and non-linear control theory ;

  • Experience with triple- and quadruple-redundancy methods for controllers and software;

  • Requirements management software such as DOORS, Code Beamer, Team Center, or other;

  • Managed release process, design review checklists, and change management;

  • PMP, project management, supervisory, or team leadership experience;

  • Lab equipment: oscilloscopes, data acquisition, hi-pot, spectrum analyzers;

  • DFSS, Design of Experiments, Axiomatic, P-Diagrams;

  • Filtering and Digital Signal Processing;

  • C programming.
