Our client is internationally known for creating Aircraft Modifications with MRB loads and Stress calculations in the Oregon and Texas area. We are seeking a Stress Engineer at our headquarters with primary structures for fixed wing aircraft. This is primarily a direct position but contract will be considered

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Generate formal engineering substantiation reports using both classical (hand calculations) and mathematical software which support certification of aircraft
structural modifications and repairs.
• Analyze and check engineering data to ensure that it meets the requirements for FAA certification.
• Develop Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using FEA tools (Nastran/Patran) which supports the design and certification of aircraft structural modifications. Develop linear and nonlinear
finite element models as required.
• Prepare fatigue and damage tolerance analysis (DTA) which support aircraft modifications on damage tolerant structure.
• Research and review engineering data (drawings, reports, manuals, etc.) defining aircraft structure or systems to determine the most efficient method of modification or alteration.
• Develop preliminary analysis necessary to determine a practical aircraft modification approach.
• Maintain accurate and organized engineering substantiation reports that are fully traceable and serve as an historical record of the aircraft modification or repair.
• Develop and maintain Structural (Standard) Repair manuals used by maintenance technicians.
• Coordinate with Designated Engineering Representatives to ensure aircraft modifications, repairs or design deviations achieve applicable FAA certification in a timely manner.
• Any other duties as may reasonably be requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• BS Degree in Engineering.
• Five to ten years’ experience in the engineering field in a hands-on environment preferred. Minimum 3 years’ experience.
• Ability to prepare accurate and concise hand sketches for repair or design improvements. Solidworks, AutoCad or Catia experience a plus.
• Large aircraft repair experience, preferably on Boeing and/or Airbus aircraft in a Maintenance and Repair Organization (MRO)
• Knowledge of FAA regulations/certification processes and related requirements.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of engineering principles, repair and fabrication practices, aviation hardware and general aircraft maintenance operations.
• Knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, SRM's, MM's, SB's, IPC's, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Must have good oral, written, and organizational skills, and be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and be able to work under pressure with a minimum level of supervision.
• Must possess ability to maneuver around airplanes (i.e., climbing stairs, on work stands, man lifts, etc.) and in confined areas (i.e. cargo compartments, E/E bays, etc.).
• Ability and willingness to support significant travel, both foreign and domestic.
