Title TEMP Senior Systems Safety Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Support safety analysis of our Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The multiple programs in development support the US Army and US Air Force, along with many other US and Foreign customers.
• In this role, the successful candidate will work on an integrated Reliability and Safety team to support both customer risk acceptance, and airworthiness requirements.
• Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Specific technical experience and knowledge should include ability to familiarize yourself with MIL-STD-882, operation and processes of System Safety Working Groups, and other related milestones such as PDR’s and CDR’s.
•Development of a System Safety Program Plan, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Functional Hazard Analysis, System Safety Analysis / Safety Assessment Report, clear and concise system safety requirements, and support of the Hazard Tracking System.
•Understands the methods of identifying and categorizing Safety-Significant (safety-critical and safety-related) functions and their affects within the hardware, software, and human interfaces of the design architecture.
•Perform Fault Tree Analyses (Relex experience a plus).
•The ability to learn multiple aircraft subsystems to become an expert on how the systems as work as a whole.
•Provide human factors technical expertise on topics such as advanced user-interface technology development or the role of human users in automated or autonomous sub-systems in advanced vehicle systems.
•Analyze complex systems to determine potential for further development, production, interoperability, compatibility, or usefulness in a particular area, such as aviation.
•Advocate for end users in collaboration with other professionals including engineers, designers, managers, or customers.
•Conduct interviews or surveys of users or customers to collect information on topics such as requirements, needs, fatigue, ergonomics, or interfaces.
•Prepare reports or presentations summarizing results or conclusions of human factors engineering or ergonomics activities, such as testing, investigation, or validation.
•Perform functional, task, or anthropometric analysis, using tools such as checklists, surveys, videotaping or force measurement.
•Support Reliability & Maintainability analyses as required.
Job Qualifications

•Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, four or more years of experience with a master’s degree, or two or more years with a PhD.
•Defense acquisition experience and knowledge a plus.
•Experience with Unmanned Vehicles systems a plus.
•Develop and present technical presentations.
•Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
•Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
•Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.
•Able to work extended hours as required.
•US Citizenship required.
•May be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
