Stress Engineer

General Summary: 
The Engineer, Stress is responsible for stress analysis and design for structure of the aircraft. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides stress analysis and design for the structure of the aircraft.
  • Works directly with FAA DER’s on structural testing.
  • Explains and presents stress and structural analysis and assumptions in a rational and logical manner.
  • Provides recommendations and status updates to management.
  • Covers etc.), as required by job duties. 

Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited four year college or university; Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Master’s in Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering a plus.
  • Direct related experience within stress or structures is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge and competency of both classic hand analysis methods (i.e. - Bruhn, Peery, Roark, ESDU) as well as FEA.
  • Working knowledge of 3D solid modeling (i.e. - CATIA v5, Unigraphics).
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (i.e. - NASTRAN, ABAQUS).
  • Working knowledge of programming languages (i.e. - Python, VB Matlab).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes.
  • Ability to explain and present analysis and assumptions in a rational manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through all level throughout the organization.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team oriented environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally incumbents may be exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  • Occasionally incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  • Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  • Effectively communicate in Business English language.
  • Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
  • Occasionally incumbents may need to pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts
