Test & Evaluation Engineer 3

Description:
**Requires the ability to obtain Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required**

The Company Test and Evaluation (BT&E) Team is looking for an Electromagnetic Test and Evaluation Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.

BT&E has an immediate need for test and evaluation engineers in support of Electromagnetic focused Statement of Work. This is an exciting opportunity that offers interdisciplinary work with both internal and external customers. The Electromagnetic Capability within BT&E is wide-ranging, stretching from Seattle, WA, through Mesa, AZ, to Saint Louis, MO, and down to Huntsville, AL and provides practical solutions for RCS testing, antenna pattern characterization, EMC, EO/IR, material measurements, and more. Opportunities exist for travel to other EM or business partner labs as well as national conferences and symposiums to support the business.

This position involves working with an experienced, interdisciplinary and multi-organizational team to create innovative solutions to meet unique and challenging requirements in a laboratory environment. Company’s state-of-the-art Dynamic Advanced Radar Test (DART) facility is a full hardware-in-the-loop simulation capability for the development, verification, and sustainment of radar missile seekers. Using the world’s largest missile seeker positioner, test articles are moved through a realistic motion profile while targets and countermeasures, generated by digital RF memories (DRFMs), provide highly realistic radar reflections. A spatial target array is then used to electronically position emissions from different points in space completing this highly-realistic laboratory environment. The DART incorporates a wide variety of specialized equipment combining real-time software, LabView interfaces, RF systems, and complex FPGA designs.

This role will require strong collaboration skills to work seamlessly with an interdisciplinary and multi-organizational team to complete a test program that meets customer requirements. Must have organizational skills and adaptability to work in a fast-paced and continually changing environment.

Position Responsibilities:

• Performs complex trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements
• Defines and conducts tests to validate performance of customer design requirements
• Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle by developing root-cause analysis of anomalies and other engineering support as requested
• Independently operates test procedures
• Coordinates with internal and external customers to satisfy specific test needs
• Solves technical anomalies, seeks to improve existing processes, and communicates complex ideas with teammates and customers
Required Skills:
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 3 + years of experience in an engineering role
• Experience in RF (radio frequency) testing
• Experience of hands-on hardware (lab environment) with electromagnetics
• Experience in Electromagnetics Engineering
• Strong communication skills

Preferred Skills:
• 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Degree in EE, Computer Engineering, or Physics
• Experience working in and with classified program requirements, developing security plans and operating within the restrictions of this type of lab environment
• Experience with Fourier theory and complex Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
• Familiarity with Field-Programmable Gated Array (FPGA) logic design
• Technical writing experience
• Familiarity with Linux in embedded systems
• Experience with embedded programming and control of hardware
• Experience in project planning, setup, execution, and reporting
• Experience with LabVIEW
• Experience using MATLAB

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
