Supply Chain Project Engineer

General Summary:
 We are searching for a Project Engineer to organize and lead cross functional projects related to aircraft component/system Supply Chains. In this role, Project Engineers will utilize specialized technical, manufacturing, engineering and project management capabilities to drive Supply Chain management initiatives to successful completion.  Assignments will have a strong emphasis on the development, coordination and execution of cross functional projects that impact all aspects of the Supply Chain. This includes the planning, organization, and coordination of project activities with internal functional and external supplier organizations.  The individual will have the responsibility to ensure that project requirements are properly defined and managed through successful completion.  Prior aerospace engineering, project management, and value stream experience is preferred.   
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tactical Initiatives
  • Drive resolution of Technical, Manufacturing, or Delivery issues through cross functional engagement stakeholders and external supplier coordination
  • Lead Product Quality, Delivery, and Performance Recovery Planning
  • Supply Chain focal for Design Change Management and Implementation
  • Strategic Initiatives
  • Coordinate and facilitate component/subsystem Cost Reduction initiatives
  • Manage supplier product development and qualification activities to ensure technical, cost, schedule and deliverable requirements are achieved
  • Oversee the implementation of product/process improvement initiatives
  • Develop and Execute plans associated with Complex Sourcing/Transfer Projects
  • Provide sourcing based Project Management support for internal development programs

Other Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Project/Technical specialist for Commodity based Projects/Issues
  • Manage supplier communications for special Recovery/Development Projects
  • Responsible for Supplier Tooling Project Management and Budgeting
  • Perform business case analyses required to facilitate program investment decisions (i.e. Project funding, capital investments, and product changes)
  • Facilitate the development of request for proposal packages and associated documentation (i.e. Statement of Work, Technical Specification)
  • Contribute to supplier evaluation, selection and contract negotiation activities
  • Support Cost Analysis and Negotiations (As Required)

Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Engineering - Aerospace/Electrical/Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial
  • Business Management – Engineering/Manufacturing/Operations/Supply Chain
  • Work Experience – 5 to 10 years combined experience in any of the following areas
  • Design, Manufacturing, and Operations Engineering (3-5 years)
  • Quality Assurance and/or Supplier Development Engineering (3-5 years)
  • Supply Chain or Project/Program Management (3-8 years)
  • Advanced (ex. MBA, MS Engineering Management) – Preferred
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) - Preferred
  • Multi-lingual - Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects in one or more areas of a Product’s Life Cycle (i.e. development, certification, production, and customer service)
  • Experienced in leading Integrated Product Teams through successful resolution of technical, quality, business and/or customer oriented issues
  • Possess an understanding of Project Management processes and procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal/ written) and present information to a broad audience, including mid-to-senior level management
  • Working knowledge of aerospace component manufacturing methods, assembly processes, and tooling design philosophies
  • Familiarity with production planning, supply chain, and quality management tools/systems – SAP experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Component Qualification and Aircraft Certification processes (ex. 14 CFR 21/23/25 AND/OR 33)
  • Willingness to travel (10-50%)

Physical Requirements:

  • Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  • Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  • Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  • Effectively communicate in Business English language.
  • Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
  • Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.)
