Manufacturing Technician (Mechanical)

Description:
*** Looking for a more experienced Technician / Engineering Technician; someone with an engineering background & experience with metal fabrication to fix / redesign prototypes on the fly.
*** R&D (Research & Development) experience working on Government / Military / Defense Contracts.
*** Should have a working understanding of hydraulic pumps & cylinders; don’t need specific experience with them but will be working around the pumps & cylinders so need to know what not to touch, etc.

Duties / Responsibilities:

> Assemble mechanical parts, as instructed in accordance to manufacturing documentation (assembly instructions, process documents, travelers, etc.) into sub-units or complete units.
> Work with and beside production co-workers, Engineers, and Quality team members to complete production and prototype work.
> Complete small wiring terminations as needed during mechanical assembly
> Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units, including sub-assembly, process assembly, inspection, modifications, upgrades and rework.
> Works closely with engineering on new prototype projects
> Provide feedback for product and process improvement
> Fabricates brackets, jigs, fixtures, and misc. metal work in support of projects
> Completes production/quality related documentation
> Assembles repairs and fabricates parts by operating mechanical equipment or tools, in conjunction with adhering to proper handling and safety requirements (Cutting and Fabrication).
> Performs work in accordance with quality and engineering standards
> Keep work area clean and organized as to present a professional work environment
> Complete any other work-related task as directed by supervisor

Job Requirements / Experience:

> 15+/- years of solid experience in a manufacturing/production environment
> Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification(s) preferred; High School Diploma required
> MUST be a U.S. Citizen only
> Overtime required when needed; travel required when needed (Less than 5% of time)
> Mechanical experience with:
o Various types of drilling to include through hole, tapping, match drilling, countersink, counter bore, and step drilling, deburring etc.
o Schematic reading and comprehension (Mechanical)
o Measuring tools (Calipers, Tape Measure, Feeler gauge etc.)
o Strong understanding of hand tools (Wrenches, Screwdrivers, Sockets/Ratchets, Levels, Torque tools, Grinders, cutting wheels, Die grinders, Sanders)
o Mathematical conversions (Decimal to Fraction)
o Metal fabrication and modification
o Working understanding of engines and vehicle mechanics
o Understanding of a wide range of fastener guidelines.
