PRINCIPLE FPGA DESIGN ENGINEER

Description:
Completes Electrical Engineering work for R&D Product Development group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage electrical engineering projects from concept to full production based upon accurate project schedule and budgets.
Train, mentor and supervise other junior engineers and technicians.
Manage engineering efforts provided by outside design partners and resources ensuring accurate designs meet customer requirements.
Prove product design by developing test plans, adjusting design, running performance calculations, maintaining quality standards.
Review and evaluation of product electrical designs through informal and formal design reviews with internal and external cross functional engineering resources.
Design and develop new products, components and provide engineering feasibility studies to assist product development and meet customer requirements.
Design and analyze electrical circuits for new and current R&D products.
Responsible for electrical engineering product development from prototype through verification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Prior experience in a highly regulated engineering environment. - Required
Digital & Analog (Mixed Signal) design experience including designs which include FPGAs. Expertise designing and developing advanced RF circuitry including frequency synthesis, RF amplifiers, high speed analog circuits, RF and mixed-mode circuit card assemblies, h-bridge power RF amplifiers, IQ demodulation. - Required

Experience implementing RTOS systems in a hardware domain using micro-controllers, FPGAs or DSPs. - Required
PCB Design and Analysis experience using Cadence Allegro PCB Designer and Schematic Capture using OrCAD Capture or equivalent. Very good understanding of high-speed layout considerations, such as parasitic, crosstalk isolation, supply and bias distribution, grounding and EMI considerations. - Required
High level of experience with system level requirements definition. - Required
Proven record of managing technical resource to meet project requirement. - Required
Prior experience developing hardware for medical devices. - Preferred
KNOWLEDGE OF METHODS

Experience with engineering analysis tools such as MatLab, Signal Integrity tool, Hyperlynx others. - Required
Experience implementing designs including FPGAs. - Required
Proficient in analog circuit design modeling, spice, hspice. - Required
EDUCATION

B.S. Electrical Engineering - Required
M.S. Electrical Engineering - Preferred
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

10+ years electrical hardware design experience - Required
5+ years in technical project management role - Preferred
