Mechanical Engineer/Designer

Description:
Aircraft Cabin Interiors Designer/Mechanical Engineer in Completions Engineering:
1. Experience with design responsibilities involving engineering design of new and derivative versions of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new aircraft.
2. Examples include custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, closets, storage compartments, interior peripheries, water/waste systems, oxygen systems, electrical wire routing, lighting, PSU, cabin liners, ledges/dados, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations.
3. Experience with design installations for aforementioned commodities along with necessary airframe modifications in meeting load requirements of the interior installation and Weight & Center of Gravity Analysis.
4. Experience in reading and understanding Electrical Schematics for cabinetry & component interface or connections.
5. Experience as a subject matter expert in CATIA & Smarteam software.
6. Will be required to have a deep understanding of its function, technology & equipment and must be sought out by others interested in learning or leveraging their unique expertise to solve specific problems & help meet particular technical challenges.
7. Knowledgeable with Installation Analysis and Mount Configuration along with any other required items.
8. Knowledgeable with composite materials for manufacturing and processing in conjunction.

Design Engineer will be required to:
1. Liaison with the shop on engineering issues.
2. Resolve issues across associated aircraft interiors.
3. Gains consensus with cross functional teams, complete with briefs with leadership, presents at design reviews.
4. Develop guidelines in application of Technical requirements to assist or complete cabinetry designs during all stages of the design process, from concept definition through detailed design.
5. Employ design standards consistent with company standards and accepted design methods to execute and meet the manufacturing schedule.

Preferred Skills:
1. Experience with Part 25 certification associated with Transport Airplane Cabin Interiors, AC25-17A.
2. Part 135 associated with Flight Sleeping Facilities aircraft requirements.
3. General understanding of Stress Reports.
4. Technical Project accomplishments with results.
5. Additional responsibilities are out lined in the job description and as assigned by the Mechanical Engineering Group Head / Supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
2. Ten (10) years in specific technical discipline or 15 years broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors.
3. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 years for Masters and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

1. Guides successful completion of major engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of company products and services.

1. Selects appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues.
2. Is consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority within the field.
3. Anticipates and resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
4. Approach to problem solving balances technical product, cost and schedule.
5. Works without appreciable direction; work is reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results.
6. Exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments, and makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.

Additional Functions:
1. Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product.
2. Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
1. Advanced degree in engineering, or related curriculum preferred.
2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
