Project Engineer / Component Product Engineer - Level 1

Rate: $30.00 - $33.00/HR
Duration: 6 month contract
Shift: 1st Shift

Job Description:
-Seeking a high-energy mechanical engineer to support our Component Product Engineering (CPE) Valve & Actuator technologies.
-This position provides technical support to project leadership for the development of in-house and supplier-based valve and actuator products.
-Valve products provide fluid control for cryogenic, gaseous, and storable propellants rocket engines and may include actuators and electronic controls.
-Position reports to Valve & Actuator CPE Director, and is assigned to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
-As an associate engineer, the CPE will learn technical details of valve designs, integration of components into rocket systems, traditional and additive manufacturing technologies, and test applications to provide support to IPT engineers for AR and supply-based design & development projects.

Responsibilities:
70% - Provide IPT support for valve design and development activities. This position works with senior engineers, valve design specialists, system engineers, subcontract managers, and quality engineers to develop requirements, specifications, statements of work, risk management plans, and manages the overall coordination of valve design and development. Coordinate communications between suppliers and lead engineers, valve design specialist, and functional generalist on technical issues, and manages supplier scope with the subcontract administrators. May have responsibility for managing the technical, schedule, and cost elements of valve component project tasks. Establishes criteria used in valve trade studies and make-buy decisions. Develops test plans and writes test reports, prepares presentations for internal and external customers.
20% - Provide communication of project status to the Engineering Director and IPT Leads. Project status includes overall project health, technical design and development results, risk management status, schedule and cost reporting. Supports the preparations of technical reports, presentations, and customer reviews.
10% – Supports in failure investigations and MRB actions, drawing on the technical expertise of specialists, as required. Coordinates the support of specialist and generalist to develop fault tree analysis and ensures execution, resolution, and close-out of all action plans.

Skills:
-Experience with MS Office suite tools, Matlab/Simulink, LabVIEW is a plus.

Education:
-Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering is required; MS Degree is preferred.
-Related coursework in fluid mechanics, gas dynamics, and mechanical engineering design is desired.
