Job Title: Project Engineer CAD Technology
Location: Portland, OR 97217
Duration: 18 Months
Description
 One of the world's leading heavy-truck manufacturers is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join their team!
 Apply Engineering and CAD principles to design vehicles that are safe, reliable, serviceable and competitive.
 Independently analyze and proactively provide creative, technically-feasible solutions to problems encountered in validation and production. Promptly resolve plant build issues.
 Create and maintain vehicle electrical schematics, wiring designs, electrical wiring harness designs, and support the development and improvement of related design/release standards and processes. Support Mechatronics cost savings initiatives.
 Become an expert on vehicle electrical systems.
 Research, load, and maintain 3D models and 2D symbols of all electrical parts in the NX, and Capital CAD Libraries.
 Work closely with other work groups within the Mechatronics department, other departments and suppliers to integrate new technology into all facets of electrical designs of vehicles.
 Provide technical support for general use electrical components, (i.e. connectors, terminals, relays, cables, switches, circuit breakers, fuses, etc) to Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and suppliers.
 Research general use electrical components, including part numbers, series, dimensions, drawings, performance, availability, and part relationships and resolve questions regarding general use of these electrical components with a high level of technical expertise and support.
 Review and process new and revision requests for general use electrical components and determine that requirements are met.
 Maintain and populate electrical systems data, for example Electrical Connector database, circuit identification numbers.
 Maintain, create and release electrical component part numbers and drawings.
 Work with vendors regarding existing and proposed electrical components.
 Coordinate design release between engineers and CAD design group.
 Support component cost saving initiatives and design/release process improvements.

Basic Qualifications
 A Bachelors degree in engineering with Electrical/Electronics or Mechatronics discipline and three years of design experience, or an Associates degree with 5 years of experience is required.
 Knowledge of DC electrical circuit analysis required.
 Basic vehicle electrical system knowledge is preferred.
 Knowledge of vehicle assembly plant processes is preferred.
 Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems is required.
 The candidate must have the ability to work well with a diverse group of internal and external customers.
 Experience with internal systems is preferred.
 Understanding of engineering processes & downstream impacts is required.
 Knowledge of other functional areas through project involvement is required.
 Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills (PC/MS Office and mainframe).
 Must be well-organized and able to balance multiple tasks, detail oriented, possess good judgment, and exercise initiative.
 Computer skills (PC skills, MS office tools, mainframe)
 Knowledge of Mentor Graphics Capital Harness Systems (CHS) and NX is strongly preferred.

The Wiring Design Group is responsible for implementing wiring designs into our various truck models based on feature specifications for features which require electrical wiring. The Wiring Design Group is responsible for the standards and processes which support those activities. Also, the Wiring Design Group is responsible for the selection and release of individual electrical components which are used in wire harnesses and cables and the standards which control those items.

With the advancement of technology, the Mechatronics area of the automotive and heavy truck industry is growing rapidly. This position is a good starting point for anyone interested in Mechatronics systems engineering in the automotive industry and more specifically, automotive wiring.
