Engineering Technician

Summary:

Perform and assist with technical engineering duties related to new product introduction, machine programming, and manufacturing process support. Work with Quality and Production on continuous improvement programs and changes within the factory.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Generate/maintain programs for SMT Pick & Place equipment, AOI, and other equipment.

  • Perform tasks for New Product Introduction and DFM activities.

  • Determine cause of failure and debug programs for optimum performance.

  • Develop manufacturing work instructions and assist in the establishment/improvement of the manufacturing process.

  • Perform activities for processing/initiating Engineering Change Orders, and monitoring/interpreting quality data from various sources.

  • Adhere to all ESD, Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD), and PCBA handling requirements.

  • Support all corporate and site Lean and 6S objectives.




Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Ability to interpret customer documents and related specifications.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Strong quantitative/problem solving skills, detail oriented and thorough.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of management/personnel, team player and build rapport/credibility

  • Strong understanding of IPC-A-610/620, IPC-DVD-64C, and J-STD-001 requirements, or the ability/willingness to be trained and certified in such standards.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Understanding of circuitry and components, and able to read and understand electronic schematics.

  • Working knowledge of electronic principles and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM)




Education and/or Experience:


  • AS in Electronic Technology, Engineering or equivalent industry experience.

  • 2-5 years in Industrial, Manufacturing or Process Engineering is preferred.

  • Experience with SMT pick and place, and solder equipment programming is preferred. 1 year+ SMT programming experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
