Contract Software System Safety Engineer

Description:
Harris Technologies has a position for a Contract Software System Safety Engineer in Lexington Park, Maryland to support Naval Air Command (NAVAIR) or United States Coast Guard (USCG) aircraft and defense systems.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Review and approval of Government Contractor System Safety plans and analyses in accordance with MIL-STD-882E (PHA, FHA, SAR, SRHA, SSHA, SHA, O&SHA, SoSHA ), ARP4761, ARP4754.
• Perform and Conduct Software System Safety Analysis in accordance with Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH).
• Conduct safety risk assessment and develop recommendations for risk mitigation.
• Provide safety support at TIMs, Audits, Design Reviews, SSWGs etc..
• Provide safety evidence in support flight clearance process

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Position requires a clearance or ability to obtain a clearance.
• Basic Qualifications:
• BS/ Master of Science degree in EE/Computer Engineering
3 - 5 years’ experience required
• Experience/capability to be trained to conduct detailed software safety analyses in accordance with Joint System Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH), IEEE 1228 and ARP4754.
• Working knowledge of software life cycles processes (IEEE 12207, RTCA/DO-178B/C, RTCA/DO-254, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Avionics systems operation and architectures.
• Working knowledge of Military and Civil Certification process
• Self-motivation
• Effective oral/written communication skills
• Effective interpersonal and team skill

The position is located in Lexington Park MD, St. Mary's County at the Naval
Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) which serves as a center for test and evaluation and systems acquisition.
