Design Engineer

Description:
Airframe Design Engineer

Responsibilities:
•Responsible for bringing about innovative conceptual design of airframe structures by use of composites and metallics.
•Responsible for efficient application of dimensioning and tolerance schemes to components and assemblies in a manner that facilitates manufacturing requirements, including the execution of tolerance studies where applicable
•Responsible for the attachment of detail parts and assemblies thru various fastening methods, including mechanical fasteners and bonded joints
•Responsible for providing effective engineering support, including interference checks, material compatibility checks, and system provisions.
•Responsible for working effectively with structural analysis personnel as well as other members of the IPT

Skills:
•Proficient in the use of CATIA v6 and the following workbenches: ◦Part Design Workbench
◦Generative Shape Design Workbench
◦Composites
◦CATIA 3D Tolerance & Annotation, including Digital Product Definition (CATIA v6)
◦Aerospace Sheet Metal Design Workbench

•Experience with traditional aerospace 2D drawing creation
•Strong familiarity with sheet-metal and machined part design best practices with a focus on affordability and producibility.
•Experience with ENOVIA LCA is required (Bell Helicopter ENOVIA experience a strong plus).
•Capable of interpreting and applying GD&T along with tolerance stack-up analysis.
•Ability to understand/visualize effective load paths for the design of primary and secondary structure.
•Design for assembly manufacturing is a must-have skillset.
•Must have experience in using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•Must work efficiently with minimal oversight, possess strong communication skills and be well organized.
•Should be very familiar with MIL-HDBK for materials and their application to aircraft structure design
•Shop floor or manufacturing experience is a plus.
•Hands on automotive or aircraft or manufacturing experience is a plus



Position Requirements:
•5+ years aerospace structural design experience and proficient in CATIA V5/V6 CAD processes is required.
•Must have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively to coordinate design activities, prioritize tasks, and report status to design leads.
•Must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams to complete design tasks.
•Familiarity with MRP, Planning, Manufacturing and Procurement processes is preferred.
•PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
•Previous experience in Aircraft Design is required.
•Must have the ability to work effectively within a team.
•Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

Education Requirements:
•Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering is required.
