Temp Mechanical Buyer - CA

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Temp Mechanical Buyer for an opening in Santa Rosa, CA.

Responsible for purchasing a variety of complex or technical materials, supplies and services in accordance with established processes and procedures. Primary commodities are Machined components and related material.

Skilled in sourcing, pricing, negotiating and purchasing Custom Mechanical Components in a Real Time MRP environment. Demonstrated Commodity knowledge in all areas of machining and machined parts. Establishes and Maintains strategic sourcing networks with OEM's. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Confers with suppliers, and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
o Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
o Analyzes changes in market conditions, prices, and suppliers.
o Analyzes the requirements of the products required including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date product is needed.
o Assists in implementing procurement process improvement, including supplier management, as improvements are identified.
o Assists in solving procurement discrepancies, working with Accounting, suppliers and other internal departments.
o Assists special program teams as required.
o Assures that the product is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
o Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to perform vendor source inspections in the development of new vendors and in support of vendor corrective actions
o Completes purchase order data entry, change orders, amendments, and other related documentation.
o Complies with contracts with regard to buying from correct suppliers and at negotiated prices.
o Contributes to material cost reduction efforts.
o Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.
o Coordinates with Quality to manage discrepant material return process.
o Develops new sources of supply to support the companies' quality and production goals. Manage the supply base effectively.
o Develops and maintain cost models by commodities and suppliers.
o Develops material cost reduction strategies.
o Evaluates supplier bids to validate compliance with the bid and proposal requests
o Follows up with suppliers and works through purchase order issues such as cost, quality, scheduled deliveries.
o Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
o Incorporates Engineering Change Orders as required.
o Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
o Maintains accurate records of all your purchasing actions, in compliance with company and departmental policies and procedures.
o Maintains necessary files, documentation, and update product information as necessary.
o Maintains workflow and priorities
o Manages pertinent purchase activities and information regarding part shortages, alternate suppliers, and build and delivery schedules.
o Meets with suppliers to discuss contracts, price negotiations, lead-time issues, open order status, etc.
o Monitors vendor compliance with all the terms and conditions of the Purchase Order
o Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the product balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
o Obtains purchase order acknowledgements from suppliers.
o Plans and execute purchases as required based on system generated requisitions
o Prepares request for quotations/bid/proposal to support an effective competitive bidding process
o Reviews, expedites, and tracks open purchase orders to ensure on time delivery.
o Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested product.
o Supports concurrent engineering process by acting as an interface between suppliers, manufacturing engineering, and design engineering.
o Works with Engineering to develop and select component platforms.

o Ability to interpret and negotiate complex contracts.
o Ability to interpret related laws, regulations and/or policies.
o Ability to read specifications requirements, statement of work (SOW), and prints.
o Assist in the creating of Statement of Work (SOW)
o Ability to collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information.
o Highly skilled at analyzing and resolving problems.
o Understanding of electronics technology, manufacturing methods and total quality processes.
o Knowledge of purchasing/accounting interactions.
o Fundamentals of Material Resource Planning.
o Understanding of the Small Business Government Requirement.
o Familiar with FARS and DFARS as it relates to Purchasing Requirements.
o Familiar with International Traffic in Arms Regulations
o Advanced Blueprint reading (Bi-directional, uni-directional tolerancing, drawing zones)
o Advanced working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
o Advanced knowledge of substrate materials and their manufacturing challenges
o Working knowledge of surface treatments and specifications
o Working knowledge of Metallurgical treatments (Heat treatment, carburizing, normalizing)
o Advanced knowledge of conventional, CNC, multi-axis machining techniques and practices.
o Advanced DFM (Design for Manufacture) and best practice knowledge.
o Intermediate Solidworks working knowledge (Sketch, feature creation, measurement and model compare)
o Intermediate working knowledge of Algebraic, Trigonometric and Geometric formulas
o Advanced knowledge of Quality Assurance processes and practices, including Inspection techniques and practices.
o Advanced manufacturing facility knowledge (Infrastructure, capital equipment, processes and procedures)
o Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
o Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
o Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
o Acute attention to detail and accuracy.
o Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
o Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
o Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
o Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
o Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

o Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
